Big Island Kobudo
Okinawa and Hawai'i are intimately connected. The struggle of the elders in Okinawa to protect in Oura Bay and Henoko is similar to the Hawaiians that are striving to protect Mauna Kea. Please take a moment to read this excellent article by Jon Letman.
A friend just wrote me to let me know about a new video that premiered recently. I was very impressed and wanted to share the series with everyone. I am sharing the second part. You can find the introduction here and part 1 here. The series is called Okinawa 2015 and is by ViceJapan.
The website update is almost done. In just another week or two I should be caught up with everything, and will keep adding older photos and events as time allows. Koubushi Gossett & myself (Jack), and my student Cody Yamaguchi will be performing with Hui Okinawa Kobudo Taiko at 9:30 AM on Sunday September 6th at the Hawaii United Okinawa Association's annual Okinawa festival. Koubushi Gossett told me today that we'll be hosting our annual tournament, The Titan Games on June 18, 2016. Our seminar will be Sunday June 19th, and will feature Grandmaster Frank Sanchez as a special guest instructor. Also, Hanshi Gossett told me that he'll be doing a karate demo and seminar at the end of May in Slovakia. I am in the process of looking for seminar dates so that Hanshi Gossett can have a "European Tour". If any dojos would like to host Hanshi Gossett to teach a seminar, assisted by myself, please reach out to me. You can write me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call me at (808) 896-1149. I would love to speak to you. I am hoping to add seminar dates in Germany, Spain, France and Italy. Hanshi Gossett lived ten minutes from Taika Oyata's house for 30 years, and trained with him all that time. This will be a great opportunity to share rare unique martial arts! I hope to meet you all soon!
The main thing that's new everyday on the website is the "Newswire" page. I have been updating that almost every other day, with news stories that I find interesting or important. I'm almost done with the site update, but will still be working on it for probably a couple more weeks. Thanks for your patience, and thanks to everybody who has contacted me.
